Giving A PAW To Aid Mankind

How You Can Help:
As a small non-profit organization, American Poodles At Work relies heavily on support from our local community and nation wide recognition of our cause, as well as donations.

Donations

  • Puppies

  • If you would like to donate a Poodle puppy, we require health testing results and personality descriptions from both parents. Please inquire for more details.

  • Equipment

  • Check our Wish List to see what we are currently in need of.

  • Supplies

  • We can always use the following items, as well as vouchers/gift certificates: dog food, training treats (especially Natural Balance/Red Barn rolls), purple flat/buckle collars, dog beds, and safe chew toys (Kongs, Nylabones, smoked knuckle bones...).

  • Money

  • Any amount is helpful - you will recieve a note explaining how your contribution was/will be used. You can also suggest a use (such as financial assistance to the recipient of a specific dog), though we reserve the right to make the final decision based on the current needs of the program.

    Puppy Socializing

  • Puppy Petting

  • When we have puppies, we want them socialized to all people right from birth. Starting the first business day after pups are born, we welcome puppy-petters to come and hold the babies. You can continue to visit the puppies as long as they are on campus, and are welcome to meet the clients and exchange information to keep in touch.

    Raising/Training

  • Puppies

  • We start training our pups when they are 3-4 weeks old, and by the time they are a few months old they are responding to more commands than many pets learn in their life-time. For puppy-petters who would like to go a step further, we will teach you how to teach the puppies, helping them grow into their future careers.

  • Advanced

  • If you would like to continue training a puppy as they grow-up, we will assign you a dog to work with. The puppy will still live on our campus, but you will be taught how to teach the advanced skills 'your' pup will be required to perform, and you can come to train or hang-out any business day. After you have worked with a dog for a while, you will be allowed to take them on 'field-trips' (the mall, events, etc), and can take them for occasional overnights at your house.
You will have the chance to work with 'your' pup's new partner to share stories and help them learn to work with their new help-mate.
